BAND GEEK

The summer always marks the time in which I discover new bands and artists and after checking out a few new talents or rediscovering a love for bands who have been around for a fair while I guess I should share some. It's interesting that I'm about to share 5 amazing songs by bands when I have been all about electronic music and DJ's for the past 8 or 9 months.

..and you have no idea how much I wish I was an Latitude this coming weekend to see Suede, it even involved a desperate, yet failed, bid to become an Oxfam Steward.

Anyway, I seem to share a lot of music with you through this blog. What I listen to relates so closely to my mood and therefore the way which I think and dress, and of course on a far wider scale the musical tastes of the moment impact on the way designers think and in turn what we will be wearing. So what comes first. The Music or the Style? Kind of interesting huh.

CRAVE

It's the time of year in which I always find myself longing for a huge spending spree and lots of new clothes. ...in reality thought, my budget will not be seeing me shopping anytime soon. So here is my Wish List for the last few months of summer.

1. Sheer Pallazzo Pants - 90's Perfection.
2. Burgundy Nail Paint - The perfect transitional S/S to A/W colour.
3. Summer Boots - In Crochet or Tapestry.
4. The Rucksack - Possibly THE piece of the Summer.
5. Orange Lipstick - Colour pop make up is just right for holidays.
6. Pleated Midi Skirt - ...in a jewel colour with work until Winter.
7. Lingerie Body - The perfect companion for Grannyish patterned midis, a hint to A/W's S&M trend.
8. Peach Hair Dye - So I can give my hair the fruity treatment as seen on Pixie Geldof.

9. Black Boyfriend Blazer - Makes almost any outfit internship friendly.
10. Turban - The ultimate cover up for Festival Hair.
11. Patterned Maxi's - This skirt has an air of Prada don't you think?
12. Sheer Kimono - I never realised how much I needed one until my friend Cherry presented a tie dye wonder at Glastonbury. I'm loving this snake print version.
13. Nepalese Bum Bag - A functional waist clincher in this seasons perfect ethnic print. It's a no brainer.
14. Swedish Hasbeens - Paired with thick brightly coloured hiking socks. They're just about the only sandals i'm considering this summer after a slight mishap with my toe...make that both big toes.
15. Blue 'Light Aqau' Lipstick - As seen on Jamie Winstone and Kesha, i'm loving it as a nod to Avatar chic.

BLOGGERS DELIGHT

This month's Vogue really is brimming with fantastic glances at the coming season....a showcase for some of the A/W 2011 Ad campaigns from the likes of Louis Vuitton and Prada as well as a great shoot featuring talented young Brits such as Laura Marling, Tali Lennox, the gorgeous Felicity Jones and Pixie Geldof, who's sporting the peach perfection hair colour i'm longing to dip dye my hair with. However my favourite fashion story has to be the riot of colour, texture and shape featured in Style Hunter, styled by Charlotte Pilcher and modelled by Suvi Koponen. You can't help but look to the the likes of Tavi Gevinson, Susie Bubble and my favourite...the Beckerman Sisters when considering the inspirations for this story. The accessorising throughout the shot is maximal and wonderful, why have one bag when you can have two after all!? ..and customising a £2.5K Celine bag with cartoon stickers is just so right in this shoot!

See what I mean!

LUPFER

In case you haven't already spied this on the Discotheque Confusion blog you must check out the video lookbook for Markus Lupfer's Resort 2011 Collection. I love the late 1970's quality and parody of scientific tv programmes. A video can certainly create far more of a narrative or mood than a lookbook ever could and I feel really inspired to delve into the moving image more next term, with a media world which everyday becomes more developed online it seems only natural that we move on from 2D printed pages and explore the multi faceted world of the moving image.

CALVI on the ROCKS

I spied this festival via the ASOS Facebook page and wish i'd heard about it sooner! A great line up featuring my hometown favourites Foals, as well as, Metronomy, heavenly house dj Laurent Garnier and Friendly Fires. This on top of a beautiful and sunny setting of Corsica and some great festival on the beach style going on. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for next year's line up but for now this perfect remix of Friendly Fires' Hawiian Air by another homegrown talent TEED provides a backdrop to some of my favourite looks from the festival.
